QUANTUM

The artistic practice of Susy Gómez, with a conceptual genealogy, is constructed from a reflection on identity, it arises from the desire to explore the intersection between art and spirituality, her works are concerned with the position occupied by the subject in the contemporary world, establishing bridges towards others from different disciplines that propose other relationships between the body and time, relationships and affections. He opens himself to a certainty and a leitmotiv: in art as in life there is a truth that interrupts life, but life itself does not yet have the elements to understand it. In the last 15 years her installations have a systemic structure, where the public becomes the performer, where the artist includes proposals for self-observation and self-referencing based on her installations.

Quantum refers to the title of the paintings in the artist's recent exhibition, a pictorial synthesis of her artistic practice. These works are the result of what Susy Gomez calls "Performe to transform", a fundamental part of her daily practice to explore and transform one's own limits, the phenomenology that in itself allows us to question our internal images in contrast to the images that emerge in a meditative state, a state of emptiness from which to observe one's own thoughts, an instinctive, confessional "Action painting" made with random effects on the canvas, an absolute devotion to personal expression without restrictions. Susy Gómez is working on several new projects including, among others, a forthcoming solo exhibition at the Giorgio Persano Gallery.
