  GIRBENT: Hotel + Los Espejos
JUNE 8 - AUGUST 24, 2013

  MARTIN JOHN CALLANAN:Martin John Callanan
NOVEMBER 29, 2012 - JANUARY 17, 2013
On May 16, 2008, Martin John Callanan changed his name to Martin John Callanan, by Deed Poll, sworn and sealed at the City of London Magistrate's Court. On July 5, 2012, Martin John Callanan assumed the name of Martin John Callanan by Deed Poll, sworn and sealed by a Comissioner for Oath, and enrolled in the Supreme Court of Judicature. Through this action, at once absurd and totally in keeping with the laws of the United Kingdom, the artist Martin John Callanan (formerly Martin John Callanan) turns an administrative process into a reflexion on his own identity and the systems that validate the laws and institutions that govern our society.>>

  VASCO ARAÚJO: <<identity stories
  20 SEPTEMBER - 10 NOVEMBER
<<IDENTITY STORIES In Identity Stories, the artist makes use of metaphorical narratives, plots characterised by solitude and divergences in order to represent allegorically the theme of change in the human being and the dichotomy between the real and the unreal,
deceiving and deluding the spectator in the expectation that he believes what he sees
or, ultimately, what he does not see. Here, the metaphor of the volcano or the island serves the purpose of speaking of the internal dimension of the human being as a psychological entity in a state of constant change as an evolutionary process. >>

  GIRBENT: <<the asia series
  2 AUGUST - 17 SEPTEMBER
<<the asia series

Girbent, interested  in issues such as the sense of the painting in the internet era, the originality, the falsehood in the art, the role the media play  and, above all, in emphasize the plentiful mystifications related to the art critic,  presents  himself as a forger and propose a false exhibition with real paintings .

The artist configures a proposal supported in two different levels of appropriation; the paintings derived from images of the film Still Life  by  Jia Zhang Ke  and the exhibition is in itself an imitation of Bob Dylan’s exhibition, “ the Asia Series “ (Gagosian Gallery,New York.   SUSY GÓMEZ: <<espiració
  10 MAY - 30 JULY, 2012
  Susy Gómez

The reflection on identity plays a pivotal role on Susy Gomez's artistic career. Her work evolves from the willingness
to explore the crossroads between art and spirituality, between social action and identity. Her artwork reflects on
the positioning of the contemporary subject in the world that surrounds him. It transforms and transmutes images from
the real world or their representation in the media thus conveying the fragmented and uninterrupted flow of existence.

To exhale, although this verb has many connotations, it is commonly associated to dying, to the last breath, the moment
of surrender when the soul leaves the body. It also conveys the idea of life, of exhaling as part of the act of
breathing. We tend to establish a parallelism between soul and spirit because when we exhale, when we breathe, we
are alive. By analogy something that stops being, exists no longer, comes to an end, disintegrates: like exhaling
time, when the temporal existence comes to an end. Also living, exhaling as part of the act of breathing.>>

MONTSERRAT SOTO: THE VERTICES OF THE BACK
10 DECEMBER - 24 FEBRUARY 2012
Montserrat Soto   Montserrat Soto explores two distinct lines of research: "landscape and travel" and "art and its spaces". She is currently working on a project called Doom City. Del hombre nómada al hombre sin lugar, in which she uses photography and video to examine man's spaces and their current evolution. In it she takes a look at contemporary man's different forms of living, the state of some societies and how they evolve. Through his processes of transformation she strives to uncover some of the particularities of this planet as a place and of man as a species.

  TRANSACTIONS

  15 SEPTEMBER - 15 NOVEMBER 2011
A153167   According to elementary economic theory, specialization allows for an efficient use of economic resources. As slightly more advanced theory handbooks point out however, specialization also increases the costs of conducting transactions. Should you decide to buy an artwork (e.g. at this exhibition,) you would have to consider the cost of finding appropriate information, the effort of traveling to the gallery and negotiating a deal with its owner, as well as the additional costs of taking the work home, hanging it and storing it in addition to the price tag. All these expenses above and beyond the works' nominal value are the abovementioned transaction costs and may be important when assessing a transaction. Most economic theories, however, surprisingly consider them negligible and in order to simplify their analyses assume they are zero. >>
